How Check-In Works: Gate Codes, Not Front Desks

The worst part of most vacation rentals is the ceremony of getting in: a lockbox behind a gas station, a code that arrives while you are boarding, a host “about 20 minutes away.” We run check-in differently, and since it is the same on all fifteen houses, here is the whole script.

Before you arrive

Once your dates are confirmed and paid, the WhatsApp thread you booked in becomes your check-in channel. A few days out you get the address pin and arrival notes — which gate, where to park, anything specific to the house. The morning of check-in, the gate codes arrive in the same thread. No app to download, no account to create.

4:00 PM, or earlier if the house is ready

Official check-in is 4:00 PM everywhere. If the house is turned over early we say so, unprompted — an empty clean house helps nobody. Drive in, code at the gate, code at the door, done. At Casa Lumi the pavers light up at dusk on their own; at The Rose By Brickell the facade lighting is already running when you pull in.

While you are there

The person who sent the codes is the person who owns the house, on the number you already have. Air-conditioning acting up, a breaker, one more set of towels — you message, a human answers, usually the same one every time. There is no ticket number because there is no ticket system.

11:00 AM, out

Check-out is 11:00 AM: leave the keys where the notes say, close the gate behind you. No inspection walk-through, no checkout chores list beyond basic decency. The cleaning fee you paid up front is what pays for the reset.

That is the entire process. It fits in one WhatsApp thread, which is the point. Start one from any house in the collection — the enquiry writes itself.
